OUR PLEDGE TO YOUR PRIVACY

Virtually There is provided as a service to your travel arranger (*). Sabre Virtually There understands and appreciates the fact that protecting your privacy is very important to you. That's why we have written this document, detailing our commitment to your privacy.

First and foremost, Sabre Virtually There pledges that it will not release, sell, or trade your personal information without your consent. You will have a choice as to how your information is used. An exception must be made when court orders, government agencies or law enforcement authorities require us to release information according to federal and state laws, or in the unlikely event of a sale of the business or transfer of assets.

When you complete the Members (formerly "My VT") preference form on our site, the information you provide is used to tailor the information you are given each time you visit Virtually There. It is customized to fit your needs. For example, if we know that you like football and that your next trip will be to Dallas, we may be able to offer Dallas Cowboys game tickets to you via email, postal mail, or simply as an advertisement banner on your itinerary.

At times, we provide information to the companies that participate in our web site, and travel providers participating in your itinerary. In this case, the information is only aggregate (gathered or accumulated) data that does not contain any personal information about Virtually There site visitors. Our policies and procedures are designed to prevent anyone other than Sabre and your travel arranger from having access to your personal information.

As stated more fully below, you will have the option to choose whether or not you wish to receive information about any special offers from Sabre Virtually There.

HOW INFORMATION IS GATHERED

Voluntary Information

When you register with Virtually There, you will be asked a series of questions. We will also send you inquiries from time to time. Using your registration preferences and through traveler surveys, we collect names, addresses, email addresses, demographic information and other information regarding travel service needs from site visitors. All such information is voluntarily provided to us.

Information that we request from our customers include:

Basic identifying information: Name, address, postal code, email address, etc.
General statistical information: Age range, gender, the size of the company with whom you work, etc.
Various interests: Theater, sports, live music, etc.

Any information that you give us is stored in a secure database. You may choose not to give us any of the information we request from you. If so, that will severely limit our ability to personalize the Sabre Virtually There website to your needs and, in some cases, may require you to give the same information each time you visit our site.

Automatic Information

"Cookies": When you log-on or use any of the services in the Sabre Virtually There website, our server can automatically recognize your personal computer by your encrypted Member Key-also known as a "cookie." This Member Key allows us to identify you when you return so that you do not have to enter your username and password every single time you visit us. It also allows us to tailor your visit to our site with special discounts or offers that are most relevant to your needs.

We are able to automatically customize your visit to our website more easily by noticing what parts of the Virtually There site you click on most often, how you arrived at our site, which browser you use, etc. This category of information is referred to as "click stream data." We don't keep individual users' click steam information, but we do collect these statistics to study group interests. This helps us modify our site to make it more appealing to the largest number of people. Other information tracked automatically is the Internet Service Provider you use, the domain you visited previously, and the URL that the browser accessed.

Go to the "Help" utilities on your web browser to find information about the ability to warn you when new cookies are received, if you choose to prevent the acceptance of new cookies, or help you disable cookies altogether. But please keep in mind that allowing your computer to receive and store cookies will give you the full benefit of your Sabre Virtually There website and can enhance overall performance when you visit our website.

You may choose to visit our website anonymously by using a software utility designed for that purpose. These utilities can be found on the Internet. Please note that by using such tools you will prevent us from customizing your visit to suit your travel preferences, but we do want to advise you that these tools exist.

HOW YOUR INFORMATION IS USED

Travel providers and merchants may utilize Sabre Virtually There to tell you about special offers they have for you, based on the preferences you provided to Virtually There when you registered (or updated your registration) or responded to a survey. During the registration process, you will be asked if you wish to receive such offers. If not, simply un-check the appropriate box. While these travel providers and merchants will be informed of your interest, your personal information will be given to a travel provider or merchant only to ensure that you receive a purchase you made or an offer you have accepted, in the manner in which you requested it, at the right time, at the right place, and with the right name. If you change your mind about our using your information, please refer to the section below titled "UNSUBSCRIBE, UPDATE, CHANGE OR CORRECT TRAVEL PREFERENCES". The choice is yours.

Sometimes it may be necessary for you to visit a travel provider's or merchant's Internet site to complete a request for (or purchase of) goods and services. These companies may solicit information from you via a survey or information screen for their marketing purposes. When you are providing information while visiting another company's site, it is that travel provider's or merchant's site that stores your personal information in its database and that company's privacy policy that governs the use of your data. Be aware that its policy may differ from the Sabre Virtually There policy.

HOW INFORMATION IS SHARED

We take our pledge to protect your privacy seriously. It is your choice as to whether your personal information will be released to a third party, except for the situation when we have to initiate, supplement or verify the data necessary to complete transactions that you have requested or purchased.

As an example, you may ask us to provide your name and address to a merchant or travel provider so that the merchant or travel provider can complete an order for you. Or, if you tell one of the companies that you want to accept their offer of a free gift, or a discount at a local retailer, we will furnish them the appropriate information in order for them to fulfill your request.

One way information is provided to travel providers and merchants is when we sort information based on group statistics only. For example, we may advise a merchant that there are 20,000 Virtually There members interested in receiving information about theater tickets in New York. But sharing this type of information will not be linked to any individual traveler.

HOW WE USE THIRD PARTIES

Occasionally, a third party may be used to fulfill delivery of travel offers. For example, we may contract with a third party vendor (such as an email service company) to provide you with the details of a special weekend rate for a hotel in Paris, if you have told us that you are interested in European travel. When a third party vendor is used for such a purpose, they agree to maintain the confidentiality of your personal data as outlined in the Sabre Virtually There Privacy Policy as you see it here.

RECEIVING SPECIAL OFFERS

A Virtually There user chooses to receive emails by answering specific questions that are part of the Members preference form located on the Virtually There site. A traveler may choose not to receive any emails by indicating that choice in their Members preference form.

In the future, we may use a postal service to provide travel product offers based on information you provided. When this begins, we will add a feature to the preference form accessed from the Members link. Please note that choosing not to receive email or mail offers can sometimes take up to six weeks before offers will cease to arrive. If offers continue to be delivered after six weeks, please email customer care at vtquestions@sabre.com.

FOR YOUR SECURITY

Sabre Virtually There understands that the security and confidentiality of personal information transferred over the Internet is a requirement in any data privacy program. Virtually There employs the latest technology by using Secure Sockets Layer (referred to as "SSL") software. This software encrypts all information that you transmit to us and provides the highest level of security possible.
